This is a 1965 BSA A65 Police bike that came back from South Africa about 9 years ago. I recently charged the battery and put in fresh petrol after the winter, it started 1st kick. It has been converted to 12 volt with a Boyer ignition. It still has the police side panels (Large on the left side to take the big radio battery) in VGC, not fake plastic ones. The engine has no rattles or smoke and all the gears select and run. It is fitted with a modern seat but the original seat comes with it (no tears in the leather). I did fit higher bars on it as I have a bad back and it is more comfortable for me. Reason for sale: I have too many bikes and as I am getting older I am going to keep the smaller bikes.
The vintage motorcycle club have authenticated the bike as an A65 Police bike sent to South Africa 19th January 1965. On arrival the engine was found to be faulty so immediately another engine was sent out, also made Jan 1965. It came back to the UK without a speedometer so there is no history of mileage but it runs very well.
