Description
Honda SL175 1970. This is a US import, first year of a two year-only model. Registered by DVLA 01/ 02/ 2021, since when it has done just 250 miles. Factory paint on tank, side panels, rear mudguard and headlamp. My brother's bike, he stripped it and did a sympathetic restoration, including, but not limited to, renewing the chain and rear sprocket, with new tyres. Engine split and cleaned out. The front guard was heavily scratched, so he repainted it. Seat was recovered and rebuilt by R. K Leighton with the correct pattern. It has a solid exhaust, very often damaged on these, with what appears to be the original levers, with nice clocks. He hasn't used it for two years, but I started it straight up with my mobile starter; it really wants the carbs sonic cleaned to sort the tickover. Other than that, it's fine, all lights and horn work, along with stop light, rev. counter and speedometer. A very unusual model in Great Britain, the Honda SL range from SL70 to SL350 was made for only a few years 1969 to very early 70's, with the more street orientated CL range very much more common. Most that arrive over here have been well battered due to taking advantage of their better off-road capability.
