1963 Austin Healey 3000 Mk11 BJ7
Manual with overdrive.
Ice Blue metallic over Old English White.
Bespoke Grey leather interior with Grey carpets and a Grey Mohair hood and hood cover.
This outstanding car has had an “open cheque book” no expense spared restoration which would probably cost circa £100 k in today’s climate.
The 3000 was imported in 2014 and underwent the most comprehensive four year restoration.
Built on a new replacement Dennis Welch BJ8 chassis with front camber adjustment, strengthened front lower wishbone mounting points.
The body has seen a complete rotisserie restoration , taken back to bare metal and with lightweight all aluminium outer panels, prepped with epoxy primer, additional welding to the tub for extra stiffness.
Fitted with front wing vents and louvred bonnet for improved engine bay cooling, there is also a bespoke built and discrete cooling system for the footwells which can be a nuisance with a standard 3000.
For additional styling, the Healey has been fitted with BJ8 door handles and a “Monza style “ filling cap.
To complete the period look, period spot lamps mounted on aluminium brackets and Grey powder coated wires with period correct tread pattern tyres and brass effect spinners have been fitted.
The engine has been fully rebuilt to BJ8 spec and fitted with an electronic ignition, electronic fuel pump Dennis Welch five blade fan and screw on oil filter, aluminium radiator and polished Healey inscribed rocker cover..
The gearbox is a four speed centre change box with “ Works style” aluminium gear knob with overdrive flick switch.
A 3. 7 - 1 rear diff ratio has been fitted for better high speed cruising along with BJ 8 radius arms.
The braking system is to BJ8 spec.
Some other nice additional touches are alternator conversion, indicator warning buzzer, rack and pinion steering conversion as it was fitted with electric power steering but the previous owner decided that it didn’t enhance the ride so had it removed for a much more positive feel .
This is a “top notch “ Healey built to a fabulous standard and specification and comes with a very thick history file and bills for approximately 70k
