Description
By the beginning of the 1970s, the long-lived and much-loved Beetle was showing its age, rather than risk the icon to become obsolete, Volkswagen introduced its most radical re-design yet. The 1302 and 1303 featured a re-engineered front end with MacPherson strut suspension, wishbones and a stabiliser. The 1303 was further enhanced by a curved windscreen and an all-new padded dashboard in an attempt to modernise the cabin and provide more distance between front seat passengers and the windscreen. This was the most advanced evolution of the original Type 1 Beetle.
This 1973, 1303 example was the subject of a remodel in 2015 with a two-tone colourways reminiscent of a 60s era vehicle along with Empi ‘ style 8 spoke 15-inch road wheels. The original ride height has been retained, offering a comfortable ride.
The chrome and external trim are in lovely order, new seat covers and a smart carpets finish off the interior.
The original 1300cc dual port engine has benefited from a new carburettor, coil and distributor, it starts up and runs well.
