Beschreibung

This Series 3 SWB Land rover was first registered in 1974 and we have a full DVLA history of owners since new, some of whom we have spoken with. For the first 20 years of its life this vehicle was used primarily as a low mileage farm vehicle on two very large farms in north Yorkshire. It was originally diesel powered but in 1997 it was fitted with a 5 bearing – ex defender - petrol engine, the vehicle mileage at that time being 51, 000. Since then we have every MOT, service & parts invoice, with a total spend of over £3, 000 until 2008.
In 2008 the vehicle was subjected to a full ‘Back to Basics Restoration’ – It was stripped down, all body panels removed. (Numerous photos of restoration available) The chassis was found to be in good order and was cleaned and painted. The bulkhead was also found to be in good condition and was prepared and primed ready for painting. The body panels were similarly stripped back and primed before being resprayed in 2 pac Land Rover ‘Masai Red’. The roof and sides were similarly prepared and also resprayed in 2 pac Land Rover ‘Limestone’. The wheels (Weller 8 Spokes shod with good 205 x 16 radial tyres) were shot blasted, primed and resprayed in 2 pac ‘Limestone’. The Interior was fully carpeted along with new door cards – Brand new seats were fitted to the front and new bench seats to the rear.
The Engine was fitted with a new twin choke Webber carbs and starts and runs superbly well, it has also recently had fitted a new radiator and fuel tank. The lights have been upgraded to halogen units and give excellent visibility in the dark. To finish it off it has also been fitted with parabolic springs to give an even smoother ride similar, some say, to that of coil springs. After the ‘Basics’ restoration the vehicle was given to 4 x 4 Specialists, Turners of Holmfirth for a full engineering service – nsf king pin and bushes were replaced, all suspect oil seals were replaced, front and rear prop ujs were replaced, nsf shock absorber bushes were replaced & the engine had a full set up and tuning. Subsequent to this - new side and rear steps were then fitted together with a new La Salle interior headliner with fitted radio speakers and internal light in the roofing. (Radiomobile radio). Finally the engine and chassis were steam cleaned and the chassis was given a complete Waxoyl coating. The vehicle is a ‘head-turner’ wherever we go and in fact achieved a runners-up award at this last year’s
Yorkshire-Classic-Car-Show, held in Barnsley. It has subsequently been displayed at shows throughout Yorkshire and Staffordshire always attracting lots of attention.
