The Peugeot 202 Pick-up, or Bachee, was added to the 202 range in 1938 and featured a traditional seperate chassis unlike the saloons that employed a monocoque design.
This particular example started its working life in a French vineyard in 1949, making it one of the last built. It was imported into Britain in 1976 and underwent a full professional restoration between 1985 and 1991. The vehicle was featured in Classic Van and Pick-up in February 2006.
The paint is finished to a very high standard and the upholstery is in excellent condition.
The 1133cc 4-cyl OHV engine starts very promptly and quickly settles down to an even tickover. Its 30 bhp is delivered smoothly and with no worrying noises. She pulls strongly and stops squarely and is never uncomfortable. She is showing 51839 km on the clock. I have no reason to doubt its accuracy. The period Michelin tyres are in excellent condition and I see no reason why she should not pass another MOT when it is due in October 2010
A substantial history file comes with the vehicle which includes some detailed photographs of its restoration.
You will undoubtedly be purchasing a rare vehicle. There are thought to be less than 10 examples of the 202 in any form in the UK.
