This Austin A 40 Somerset first registered on 1st December 1953 , shows just 3 former keepers on the v5. The gentleman we purchased it from had owned it since 2020 and spent a colossal amount of money on it, including reconditioned engine, including complete interior retrim including headlining, fitting of front seat belts, electric fuel pump, electronic ignition. New battery and starter motor, radiator recored, complete brake overhaul including pipes and hoses and master cylinder
New front shock absorbers, complete new exhaust system, tyres, clutch, the list goes on and on
It runs and drives beautifully with good oil pressure and steady temperature. The brakes pull up well. There is nothing mechanically we can fault it with, other than the milometer isnot working
As can be seen the interior is wonderful and been completed very well. The door handles, hub caps etc have all been rechromed. Bumpers are silver painted. The underside is excellent with obviously many new parts evident. The bodywork again is very sound having had any repairs necessary carried out. The paintwork although presentable is a bit orange peely, however this is only noticeable close up. We have allowed for this in the price should the new owner wish to improve it
There is loads of paperwork with the car including bills for all the new parts, old mots, handbook etc. it still retains its original number plate which has been valued at £2500, although it would be a shame to split it from the car.
