Always fancied a “Chummy” open top Austin Seven but don’t want to do a load of work, “the one who must be obeyed” won’t sit on worn out, saggy, cracked and torn seats, not got a massive budget but don’t want to look like you’ve just come from Steptoe’s yard, read on and discover the delights of this little gem ………………
Well presented, extremely sensibly priced, all working as intended and most importantly great fun, 1931 Austin Seven Chummy, ready to admire and be enjoyed this summer and you won’t need a re-mortgage to buy it.
The pictures say it all, the car has massive amounts of charm, if your not smiling looking at them it’s not the car for you, it’s in great running order it does everything it should do and it’s just as clean and tidy underneath as it is on top, see the underside tour in the video.
You can’t drive it down the road without a grin on your face, a smile every mile guaranteed, starts really well, goes really well, stops really well, no untoward bangs, clangs or rattles as you travel, gears select easily, bakes will lock up if pushed hard, excellent handbrake, 4 speed gearbox and the lights all work. Lovely smart interior with no seat damage or wear, driver’s seat is modified onto an adjustable frame and can be moved fore and aft by re-bolting in the desired location.
This is one of the easiest started Seven’s we’ve had in the yard, plenty of power in the miniscule 6v battery to spin it into life and it holds great oil pressure even when warm, recent fresh and clean oil, recent new spark plugs, clear coolant with adequate antifreeze mixture, no spitting at the dipstick when running and no breathing from the oil filler cap, see the video. Fitted with 4 brand new “Blockley” tyres, which are obviously free from the usual age cracks and deterioration you normally get.
We have the current modern logbook and an older green logbook, appears to have the correct number plate as issued new 94 years ago. Apart from an original handbook we have no other paperwork, it’s understood to have been restored in the 70’s after being used as a chicken shed, current lady owner since 2016 who states that as well as the recent new tyres the car also had the brakes relined, they are very good and the kingpins re-bushed, they have zero play and again are shown in the video underside tour.
It presents really well and will be admired wherever you go, paint finish is suited to the car, it’s not immaculate, has a little age, close inspection will find the odd blemish and imperfection, overall it’s very smart and mechanical good but it’s not concours, you can drive this to a show waving back at folk along the way, no need for an atmospheric controlled covered trailer, relax and enjoy the journey.
The hood is also suited to the car, perfectly fine and in good usable condition but aged, no side screens sorry just the hood as shown, it’s all you’d really need for a day out. The speedo reading is nominal, flicks about, but you are unlikely to be break any limits on your travels, we’ve not been on a long run just up and down the lane, it drives very well, no wander at the steering wheel, stops quickly and squarely, again see the video, climbs up very steep hills in second gear with no problem.
Have some fun with your savings, you bank manager isn’t doing you any favours with the interest rates, tick the box off your bucket list and own a vintage car, won’t be worth any less when you’ve had your enjoyment.
A ready to enjoy Austin 7 Chummy at very sensible money, you will not find a better one for this money, when it’s gone its gone.

Local delivery within 20 miles of Carlisle is normally for free, further afield we can deliver to most of the UK for roughly £1 per road mile from Carlisle (it will not be delivered by crow) direct on our own transport, highlands, islands and outlying areas please check with us first.

All viewings are exclusively by timed APPOINTMENT ONLY, we do not have a showroom or display area, items may have to be brought from our secure storage to view and advance notice will be required.
