Purchased from Resto haus two years ago but time to move on… dry stored and very clean inside, outside and underneath.
1971 RHD Type 3 Variant Squareback originally from the dry, sunny climate of Australia. As you can see it looks period perfect in its Australian only paint colour of "Honey Gold". The car had a sympathetic restoration a few years ago, where the paint was very carefully matched to some unfaded areas under the bonnet, to ensure replication of this gorgeous hue. The wings were removed, cleaned and Raptored both inside the wings and the inner wings on the main body. The floors both on top and underneath were again painstakingly cleaned of their factory underseal to reveal near perfect original paint, the underside was again protected using Upol Raptor . The windows were very carefully refitted using new rubbers and still have VW Australia marks on all glass.
The original high back black basket weave seats were in superb condition, so have been refitted and the headliner was also replaced with new.
All original brightworks etc were refitted and a period roof rack was added. She's just mildly & tastefully lowered, but could very easily be raised to stock or lowered further should you wish ?
Mechanically the 1600cc engine was reconditioned at the time and more recently had brand new twin Weber 34ICT carbs added, Hex bar linkage, K&N filters, Vintage Speed exhaust, Bosch 009 distributor, new plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor arm. points, coil , condenser, fuel lines etc.
New steel wheels were added with new continental tyres about 1, 000 miles ago.
Some spares including tow bar, dash and new discs are also included in the sale.
There is some minor just bubbling on the trailing edge of the front wings, but minimal.
