We are pleased to offer this early example of the Renault Clio 197 finished in Nimbus Metallic with black fabric interior. Believed to originally have belonged to Renault UK as a show car (the PDI stamp shows Renault Special Exports in Paris) our Clio 197 has had just two owners since – a mature lady who owned the car for 16 years, followed by a keen Renaultsport enthusiast who kept the car as part of a wider collection.
Those two owners have done a great job of looking after this car which presents today in very good condition throughout. The paintwork in overall very good and looks to be original throughout, inside is immaculate save for one small tear on the drivers seat bolster. The wheels have been refurbished and are wrapped in four brand new Avon tyres.
Accompanying the car are a two keys, a full set of owners manuals including fully stamped service booklet (13 stamps in total, detailed below), all the previous MOT certificates, and even the original certificate of conformity is still here, too. Recently treated to a new timing belt and auxiliary belt as part of a service at Renault Speed in Hampshire, along with a new subframe meaning this Clio 197 is ready to go.
From behind the wheel this 197 drives beautifully, the engine pulls well through all the gears, no crunching from the gearbox, it turns and stops exactly as it should and is easily one of the best 197s we’ve ever driven.
