About of this car
According to the BMI Heritage certificate on file this is a genuine home market, RHD vehicle delivered in New White with black leather and top on 19/ 09/ 1965, equipped with overdrive, Michelin X tyres, chrome wire wheels, heater and windshield washer.
Our car has enjoyed a thorough restoration completed about 10 years ago when the color was changed to Wedgewood blue, which looks so right on these cars (and is colour range correct for the model year). A Surrey top was fitted at the same time which not only looks so stylish but permits buffet free open air driving.
This has always been a UK car, and accompanying the vehicle is a substantial history file dating back to the 1980s with expired MOT certificates, tax discs, period photos and reams of invoices relating to the restoration.
Bodywork
This is the reason to buy this example as the bodywork and chassis have been restored to a very high, factory like standard, work today which would cost a fortune to replicate. The underside in particular is spotlessly clean.
Panel fitment is spot-on, with paintwork which is thin and lovely with a couple of minor storage marks; wheels, chrome and glass are all very good indeed.
Mechanicals
Every mechanical system has been overhauled and the car drives delightfully. Recently £2500 has been spent on finessing the mechanicals; being a 4A, it of course benefits from IRS affording much better ride and handling.
Interior
This has been retrimmed in dark blue with white piping to compliment the exterior and looks a treat.
Summary
A great looking car styled by Michelotti, and a lot of fun to drive. You could never restore one of these to the standard of this car for the asking price.
