Description
The heritage certificate indicates that our “Frogeye” sprite is an original RHD CKD export model that was shipped to Blackheath, South Africa on 1st April 1960. The car was re-imported in 1999 and has had just two UK owners. The warm South African climate has protected this car well, with good panel fit, no evidence of corrosion and still displaying all spot welds in the wheel arches, often
lost during restoration.
The husband of the last owner is a retired engineer. He has personally maintained the car for his wife over the past 12 years with regular maintenance and any components replaced as required. The car is a testament to his knowledge and desire to make the car reliable/ safe for his wife and as original as possible.
The primrose yellow bodywork/ red interior is a stunning combination and the hood is like new. The history file includes recommissioning invoices in 1985 including an engine rebuild, 1998 when the engine was overhauled and the car rewired/ paint refreshed and invoices for all UK expenditure since 2000.
Unmolested, well maintained Mk I sprites in this condition are not easy to find and this car will give years of pleasure to the new owner.
