How cute is this? A guaranteed future classic! This is a 2002 Mercedes-Benz SLK32 AMG, Finished in Metallic Amber Red with Anthracite Leather Interior! Our car has covered a mere 91k Miles from new with a great service history! We sold the car to its previous owner a couple of years ago freshly serviced and he has had his fun and she is now back for sale! How cheap can these low production pocket rockets get?
The R107 was the first of the Mercedes SLK, or Sportlich (sporty), Leicht (light), Kurz (compact). Built between 1996 and 2004, its folding metal roof and emphasis on a luxury interior in addition to a sporting chassis set the template for what would become a very successful product line for the German firm. Based on the W202 C-Class platform, the SLK was offered with a choice of two four-cylinder supercharged engines and one normally-aspirated, or a supercharged V6. The gearbox was either a five-speed or six-speed manual, or the 5G-Tronic automatic. Power outputs varied from 134bhp for the tax-dodging, Euro-only SLK through to 215bhp for the SLK320. All were more likely to be found in cities and autobahns rather than the track or twisty sideroad, but they offered enough performance and handling prowess to satisfy most owners. But clearly not enough for the enthusiastic driver, which is where AMG stepped in. Long associated with modifying Mercedes-Benz cars with the full blessing of the factory, it did its usual thorough job in 2001 of re-engineering it to put the emphasis more firmly on the car’s performance. The result was a 349bhp/ 332lb/ ft supercharged 3. 2-litre V6 that lopped almost two seconds off the SLK320’s 0-to-62mph time, hitting the benchmark in 5. 2 seconds. With its top speed limited to 155mph, it’s mid-range acceleration was what you paid your money for. Well, that and the handling. And the braking. And the interior. All were heavily revised and the result was a machine that could compete head-to-head with the targets that has been identified during its design brief, cars like the Porsche Boxster and BMW M Roadster. Only 263 RHD UK SLK32's were produced out of more than 4, 300, itself a fraction of the 311, 000 SLKs built in total.
Our car was first registered on the 25th November 2002 and was ordered in the rare Amber Red with Anthracite Interior. The options include Mercedes Sat Nav, Factory Telephone, Heated Seats, and Cup Holder! The SLK32 was fully optioned from the factory as befits the top of the range model. There are 7 stamps in the service book and we carried out a £500 service at the local Mercedes Specialist 2 years ago. We have the owners book pack, 2 keys, and she benefits from privacy glass and slightly later Grey 18" AMG Alloys. She has an MOT with NO Advisoried until February 2026 and is ready to go!
She drives great and is a little pocket rocket, the roof functions correctly and she is ready for daily use. These Series 1 SLK's are a very rare car and very few are ever on sale. This is a model people are starting to look at as a future classic and in the meantime you can enjoy the performance! This is loads of fun!
