Description
L’Atelier des 1000 is pleased to offer for sale this superb Citroën DS 21 Pallas, in its configuration that is both chic and timeless, with this metallic green shade paired with a Havane leather interior.
Produced between 1965 and 1972, the DS 21 Pallas represented the pinnacle of Citroën’s range. Designed for a discerning clientele, it offered a level of comfort, technology and finish rarely achieved at the time.
It notably benefited from the famous hydropneumatic suspension, power-assisted braking, power steering and a semi-automatic gearbox or even directional headlights, all elements that contributed to forging the legend of the DS.
Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1955, the DS had already made an impression with its futuristic design signed Flaminio Bertoni. With the Pallas finish, introduced in 1964, Citroën pushed refinement even further: thick carpets, abundant chrome, leather upholstery, enhanced soundproofing… a true rolling salon.
The example we are offering here was registered on 07/ 02/ 1972, and is part of the last DS21 Pallas of its generation. It is distinguished by an appealing configuration, good overall condition and healthy mechanical operation.
Mechanically, the 2. 175-litre engine runs perfectly, it feels smooth, responsive and perfectly suited to the model’s road-going vocation.
The ignition has recently been renewed as has the alternator which has been replaced.
The cooling system has also undergone recent work including the replacement of the water pump and the heater valve.
The hydraulic box is pleasant to use, with smooth gear changes and no snags.
The hydraulic system is fully functional: the pressure rise is rapid, the suspension offers royal comfort and all hydraulically controlled components respond correctly.
The running gear is in good condition, offering composed handling and good stability.
Braking is powerful and balanced, the rear brake hoses were recently replaced.
The paintwork has a beautiful depth and a flattering shine, subtly emphasising the body lines. Some signs of wear and localized lacquer defects attest to use in keeping with the vehicle’s age, without detracting from its overall charm. It would be feasible to address certain body panels after discussion.
The chassis is sound, the subframes are clean, free from structural corrosion.
The chrome trim is in good condition and gleams.
The interior has been carefully preserved. The leather upholstery shows an authentic and appealing patina, with no tears or sagging.
The carpets, dashboard and headlining are in excellent condition.
The on-board instrumentation is functional.
Given the configuration and condition of this model we are asking €21, 990. Trade-ins and exchanges are possible.
