HISTORY
Citroën, aiming to capitalise on the DS’s success, decided to produce a cabriolet version in collaboration with the renowned coachbuilder Henry Bossaert. Executed from a saloon that left the production lines in February 1966, the DS 21 Cabriolet by Bossaert was also shortened by around fifty centimetres. It was then passed to the Ministry of Mines, as confirmed by the designation "DS21 MOD". Initially grey, it was later repainted black. Acquired in 1993, it has since benefited from extensive maintenance work, such as replacing the hood and the leather for the front seats, and most recently it has undergone a major overall service.
DESIGN AND BODYWORK
The design of the DS Bossaert cabriolet is as distinctive as that of the coupé. The bodywork has been meticulously worked to retain the DS’s characteristic elegance while offering a topless driving experience. The flowing lines and balanced proportions bear testament to Bossaert’s talent in automotive design. The interior is luxurious and comfortable with leather seats (4 seats) and a wooden dashboard (Jaeger), a Moto-Lita steering wheel. The car is equipped with numerous standard features such as a radio, cigarette lighter and electric windows, as well as recessed fog lamps patented by the manufacturer.
