As another new development, Final Edition customers were offered the special colour 'Silver Arrow' (Code 777). The Silver Arrow paint, like Brillantschwarz, is a glossy, vibrant finish and thus looks very lively. ** Wheels & Tyres** In terms of wheels, Mercedes partnered for the Final Edition with the motorsport partner AMG. They installed a particularly dynamic and very large 18 inch wheel: the AMG Styling I. The edge of the Final Edition fenders was bevelled at an angle of 110°. The AMG Styling I alloy wheels of the Final Edition are finished in a matte "Sterling" silver (paint code 9709). The exact designation or dimensions of the wheels for the front axle are 8. 5 J x 18 ET 25, the wide tyres are size 245/ 40 ZR 18. For the rear axle the values are 9. 5 J x 18 ET 23 with tyres size 275/ 35 ZR 18. In addition there was a variant of all wheels with a so-called gloss-drawn outer horn, where the outer part of the wheel bed was polished to a gloss finish instead of being painted matte. (Code 795) Instead of the standard simple chrome star in the middle, the wheel hub cap edge features an additional, classic blue laurel wreath in the style of the bonnet emblem on the Final Edition. ** Soft- and Hardtop** The Final Edition standardly has a black, very practical three-fold fabric roof, which folds away fully automatically and elegantly into the storage behind the passenger cell. The hardtop of the Final Edition has been aesthetically upgraded inside compared to the regular R129 version, with the B- and C-pillars reupholstered in anthracite and featuring a black topstitch, extending the premium feel of the interior to the hardtop area as well. ** Other Final Edition Highlights** Another fine detail of the Final Edition is the special wind deflector, which instead of a black frame received a high-gloss chrome frame. Be careful with the particular Final Edition wind deflector, as Mercedes now charges around €995 for it when it is available again. On entry and exit, another specialty of the Final Edition becomes visible: the driver and passenger are greeted by illuminated "SL final edition" lettering embedded in the sills. The glowing lettering on the stainless steel is a real eye-catcher. Finally, on the outside of the front wings is the still more identifying feature: the special model receives a discreet plaque bearing the inscription "final edition". ** Lighting** Modern Xenon lights suitably cap the upscale touch of the last 129s. ** Interior and inner values** With the deep entry into a Final Edition there is great delight, because the car interior focuses on noble elegance and a comfortable ambience. All surfaces are tactilely and visually upgraded, so the entire instrument panel including the glasses compartment and the airbag area, the central armrest and the doors are clad in soft leather rather than the standard plastic.
