Renault 4 GTL for sale. This is a genuine UK specification Right Hand Drive model with the 1108cc engine and four speed manual gearbox. Registered in March 1985, the car is now over 40 years old so will now attract zero-rate road tax and be MOT exempt, although would pass an MOT without a problem. With just 89000 miles from new and in excellent mechanical order with a patinated yet very pretty exterior colour, the car has done trips to Amiens, Normandy and Wimereux since I first acquired her in 2022. I gifted the little beauty to my (now ex) partner who loved her to bits for two years, but now she’s returned the car in lieu of a debt and I have no further need or space to keep it.
In the past 18 months I have carried out the following work:
Replacement of complete clutch assembly, water pump, tensioner bearing, battery, tyres, brakes discs, linings, shoes and hydraulics, all front steering joints and track rod ends, driveshaft gaiters, rear silencer, oils, filter and service items.
In addition, rear seat belts and a Bluetooth stereo have been added to make the car more usable and enjoyable on the road.
Worth mentioning is that at some point in the distant past, the bonnet was replaced although the cost of this exceeded the perceived value of the car and the insurance company rendered it a Category C repaired car. Quite why, I’ll never understand!
You could drive this little Renault to Monte Carlo tomorrow with ease and confidence, such is its mechanical condition. Live with the wonderfully patinated colour scheme of Aqua Blue and beige/ checkered cloth trim or spend a thousand or so on a respray and a few odds and sods of trim to create a car worth around £8500 today.
There’s only one bad point…. the left hand tailgate hinge is broken and needs a £100 repair. I simply don’t have the space or time to deal with it because I have a very busy working life as well as eleven other cars in my collection, so am offering this lovely Renault at a fixed, non-negotiable price of £5000 to anyone who recognises an excellent proposition and wants to drive away knowing they’ve bagged themselves a very sweet and rare RHD 4GTL that , makes everyone smile out loud.
Please, no dreamers, time-wasters or indecisive hagglers….. this really IS a huge bargain.
