Renault Clio Williams 2 for sale, garage space needed! Reduced for quick sale ( I've also had to many time wasters!)
Renault’s Clio is a long-running Supermini-class car. Since 1990, it has been produced in four generations; this is an example of a limited-production model based on the first generation of Clio, 1990-1998. The Clio has been one of Europe’s best sellers since its introduction, and has been credited with restoring Renault’s market position after a poor showing in the late 1980s.
Engines were 2 liters, based on the existing 1. 8l, but used different valves, cams, crankshaft, and added an oil cooler. While power was increased to 150hp, it was the car’s overall balance and “tossability” that earned it such high marks. It was the template for all Renault hot hatches that followed, and there have been many!
Richard Hammond of Top Gear was quoted, “It (drives) with such style, such plucky determination and then, when you’re at speed, the simple joy of feeling the back end swing around to chase the front at exactly the same rate as you lift your right foot off the throttle is horribly, wonderfully addictive. This is everything a hot hatch should be: fast enough to get you into real trouble if you choose, but also demanding a bit of work to get it there. It’s special, made in limited numbers, and valued hugely by collectors today, so there’s a sense of occasion when using it.”
I'm the 10th owner of this superb classic, 30 years old earlier this year.
The car has 12 months MOT, passed with no advisories. Lots of past MOT's and receipts. 16 service stamps.
I purchased the vehicle in January 2023 from Opulent Automotive with a view to keep it long term as part of my collection. Circumstance and a change in lifestyle forces the sale. It drives well and sounds great, the car does not show its age, it is not immaculate but I'd challenge anyone to find a cleaner example for this price. Must be seen to be fully appreciated.
