L’Atelier des 1000 has the pleasure of presenting for sale this Ford Mustang 289ci Coupé from 1965, in an elegant configuration, dressed in Arcadian Blue, matched to its white Luxury Pony interior.
An absolute icon of American motoring in the 1970s, the Mustang wonderfully embodies the spirit of the muscle cars.
More than 60 years after its birth, it retains its mythical status and continues to make enthusiasts from all generations dream.
Our example is a 1965 model year, assembled at Ford’s famous Dearborn plant in Michigan. Kept in the United States all its life, it was imported in 2024 by its current owner.
Rare for a non-restored Mustang, this example is in original configuration, matching numbers, and has a sound chassis, evidence of a car that has been carefully maintained.
The mechanicals are in perfect working order: the 4. 7L V8 is in good health, starts without difficulty and delivers full power with vigour.
No leaks or unusual noises to report. The twin carburettors have been overhauled and have benefited from a thorough tune-up.
The engine also benefits from a new aluminium radiator, a switch to electronic ignition with a new loom and plugs, as well as a new alternator and fuel pump.
The 3-speed automatic gearbox is pleasant to use, with smooth and trouble-free gear changes.
The running gear is healthy and shows no abnormal play. The front suspension bushes, stabiliser bar links and front tie-rod bushes are all new.
The driving experience is smooth and comfortable.
The braking, meanwhile, is healthy and well balanced; the hoses and front shoes have been replaced.
The exhaust, recently replaced, offers a nice sound, close to original.
The wheels are in very good condition and are shod with tyres in good order.
The paint shines, with a light patina, a sign of age, but without revealing any major defects.
The undersides look particularly solid; our on-ramp inspection revealed no perforating or structural corrosion.
The chrome, for its part, is perfectly gleaming.
Inside, the cabin seduces with authentic patina. The white Pony leather upholstery is in good condition, as are the dashboard and centre console. The headlining and carpets also present well.
The door panels and the steering wheel show some signs of use, consistent with the vehicle’s age, attesting to the Mustang’s authenticity.
The instrument cluster is fully functional.
Given its condition and configuration, we are offering this vehicle at €24, 990.
