Description
This Mike Hailwood Replica, NCR homage is definitely the most characterful motorcycle that I have ever owned. I organised a personal import from Japan in 2015 after seeing the bike for sale on eBay. It is the 84 change over model preceding the introduction of the final edition Mille. This motor benefited from stronger plain bearing crank and dry hydraulic clutch. The mileage is believed to be genuine and all numbers match. The bike is mostly standard except for fairing, Verlicchi aluminium tank, rear seat & rear set foot rests. In his book, Ducati Bevel Twins, Authenticity & Restoration Guide, Ian Falloon explained that 'the final 900 was a more refined machine. The engine gave away little in maximum power which was more than made up with a smoother, torquier motor. The 1984 900 MHR was one of the most enjoyable bevel Ducatis to ride.....'
The bike has always attracted a lot of attention and the sound of the Conti's on song is simply incredible. A couple of visits on it to the TT (when I was marshalling) were great fun. Over the time I have owned the bike I have fitted a main stand, an improved side stand, tyres and Venhill braided brake hoses. K&N filters are currently fitted but I also have straight through bell mouths. It has had regular oil & filter changes although I have not been able to ride the bike for a couple of years due to deterioration in my health. It is registered as a historic vehicle. A new battery is fitted. 3 ignition keys. It is totally reliable. It is a very useable classic bevel with lovely handlingManufactured 1984
