On offer is this delightful 1957 MGA Roadster in red with oatmeal seats, black carpet, red trim and correct steel wheels and chrome hub caps.
Originally exported to the USA, the history has several invoices for recommissioning works back in the UK during 2011. This included reconditioned carburettors, a radiator, dynamo and various brake components. It has recently been converted to RHD and been mechanically overhauled including a new dual master cylinder and wheel cylinders.
The engine and gearbox have been upgraded to MGB spec. The engine is a 1798cc 5 bearing unit and the gearbox is a 4 synchro non-overdrive item. Both making the driving experience a little more modern than a standard '57 MGA would offer but without veering too far from originality.
The car drove very well on test with extremely light controls and the expected nimble handling that is one of the many pleasures of MGAs.
The seats have been been refurbished and it has a new tonneau cover in matching oatmeal, a new black vinyl hood (still in the box) and the hood frame is also included. There are a pair of side screens and a car cover in the boot. Unusually the car comes with a new fibreglass hardtop, which fits well, and would make the car suitable for year round use.
The car drives and presents well. There are a few marks in the paint but it's very far from tatty, more useable and showing its use. A car to be driven and enjoyed rather than just polished and put back in the garage.
The car has been owned by our customer since June 2012 and he has enjoyed touring in Europe in his time. After nearly 14 years, our customer is thinning out his toy collection and we are offering his MGA on his behalf, as such it is sold without warranty.
As with all of our sales cars, we have carried out a comprehensive vehicle condition and safety check, which is included in the history folder with the car.
We will supply the car serviced and the MOT expires 02/ 12/ 2026.
