In 1996 the XJ-S, after more than 20 years as Jaguar’s flagship, was replaced by the XK. The sports coupé came with the new aluminium 4. 0-litre V8, internal designation AJ-26. The top version XKR received an Eaton supercharger as breathing aid. This delivered around 80 additional bhp. For the 2003 model year there were several improvements. The engine was revised and increased to 4. 2 litres. This brought smoother running and more power. With the newer AJ-34 the widespread timing-chain tensioner issue is no longer a problem. For the drivetrain there was also a better ZF automatic transmission with 6 speeds instead of 5. Larger brakes were also fitted to the latest evolution stage. The late XK with the 4. 2 engine is regarded as very mature and, due to the low production numbers, extremely sought after.
This XKR is one of the last of the production and was newly delivered by Emil Frey AG in Safenwil. To this day the car remains in Zürich. Delivery documents including the verified service history are available, all services carried out by Jaguar specialists. The 4. 2-litre supercharged V8 delivers a brutal 400 bhp and the 6‑speed automatic shifts absolutely perfectly. The rare two-tone leather interior is complemented by ash-grey burr walnut trim. The exterior is finished in elegant Anthracite metallic. Despite being 20 years old, the Jaguar meets most standards of much newer luxury cars. Air conditioning, heated seats, rain sensor, xenon headlights and an adaptive sports suspension are examples of an extensive equipment list. Optional for this vehicle at the time were 20-inch BBS wheels, drilled Brembo brakes and parking sensors. For extra aggressiveness the track was subtly widened. The spacer plates are listed on the registration. A timeless, classic yet modern and fast sports car with value retention. The last and best XK of the X100 series. The Jaguar is sold fresh from MoT and service.
