MM (Moto Mazzetti) was a respected Italian motorcycle brand from Bologna, Italy known for powerful, high-performance bikes in the 1950s, featuring advanced tech like OHC engines and telescopic forks. Mario Mazzetti is considered one of the most illustrious names in the motorcycle industry and built bikes between 1924 and 1957 with many of his machines achieving success in motorcycle racing
Despite the high quality and performance, the post-war market shifted towards more economical transport, which led to the company's eventual closure in 1957. Today, surviving models are considered very rare and valuable collector's items, praised by experts for their excellent finish and engineering
MM 250cc models were among the most powerful on the market, with the 1952 version capable of reaching a maximum speed of 83 mph, comparable to some 500cc bikes of the era
This 1952 example is powered by a 247cc 4-stroke single cylinder in an advanced frame featuring hydraulic forks
It was imported into the UK in 1981 and had one previous owner up until 1996, when purchased by our vendor
Prior to his purchase it had been restored by the renowned restorer James Tennant-Eyles with the restoration featuring in The Classic Motorcycle magazine
Remaining in first class condition and described by our vendor as 'running', the bike has been on display as part of his collection for a number of years and will require the usual light recommissioning before returning to the road
