FOR SALE
JF Classic Cars are proud to offer for sale an exceptional 2002 Renault Clio V6, finished in the iconic Iceberg Silver along with low mileage, a car that stands as one of the boldest and most uncompromising performance machines of its era
DESCRIPTION
The Renault Clio V6 was never a conventional production car. Each example was hand-assembled under the guidance of Tom Walkinshaw Racing, with final build work carried out in Sweden, resulting in a level of exclusivity and craftsmanship far beyond that of a standard Clio. This specialist approach ensured the V6 was something truly special, engineered as a statement of intent rather than a volume model.
Finished in Iceberg Silver, this example is particularly rare, with just 223 cars specified in this colour officially supplied to the UK. Its dramatic wide-bodied design and mid-mounted engine layout transformed the humble Clio into a road-going exotic, delivering a driving experience more akin to a supercar than a hot hatch.
As a Phase 1 model, it represents the rawest and most uncompromising interpretation of the Clio V6 now firmly regarded as a cult performance icon. With limited production numbers, unmistakable design, and increasing global demand, these cars are rapidly establishing themselves as highly desirable modern classics and a compelling long-term investment opportunity
EXTERNAL
This is no ordinary Renault Clio. The Clio V6 is a purpose-built, wide-arched performance machine with an unmistakable presence dramatic, aggressive, and unapologetically bold. Hand assembled in Uddevalla, Sweden, using components supplied by Renault Sport in France, every panel and contour serves a clear purpose: performance, stability, and visual impact.
Finished to an exceptional standard, the bodywork presents beautifully, with a deep, uniform gloss across every panel. The bumpers and bespoke bodywork remain unmarked clear evidence of careful ownership. This example has been cherished throughout its 24-year life by just five former keepers, and its condition reflects that level of care throughout.
The front end is dominated by a fully colour-coded wraparound bumper incorporating integrated fog lamps and a prominent twin honeycomb intake, designed to manage airflow and cooling efficiently at speed. Subtle aerodynamic shaping ensures the nose remains planted, reinforcing the V6’s race-bred intent.
Running along the flanks are sculpted side skirts that flow seamlessly into the dramatically widened rear arches. These house distinctive honeycomb cooling vents, feeding air directly to the mid-mounted engine bay. Further subtle enhancements to the doors blend effortlessly into the broader rear quarters, creating a cohesive, muscular profile that defines the Phase 1 V6.
At the rear, a colour-coded wraparound bumper frames the centre-mounted twin exhaust outlets. Behind the honeycomb mesh sits the original back boxes, adding both visual theatre and an unmistakable soundtrack. The rear design is purposeful yet elegant, every detail engineered rather than styled.
The car retains its original Renault glazing throughout, while the front and rear lighting remains original, crystal clear, and entirely free from chips or fading. Colour-coded electric door mirrors sit correctly, and all exterior window and door rubbers remain original, supple, and tarnish-free.
Original Renault badging remains bright, clean, and perfectly positioned, completing an exterior that is not only visually striking but also a superb example of a hand-built performance icon. This is a Clio V6 presented exactly as it should be authentic, imposing, and increasingly rare
INTERNAL
Opening either front door immediately reinforces just how special this Clio V6 really is. You are welcomed by the original Renault Sport embossed sill protectors, beautifully preserved and offering the first reminder that this is no ordinary hot hatch, but a hand-built performance car with true motorsport DNA.
Once inside, the cabin centres around the front-only Renault Sport bucket seats, designed to hold driver and passenger firmly in place. Finished in dark navy leather bolsters with brushed suede centres, they remain in outstanding condition. Subtle yet striking Renault Sport embroidery to the seat backs adds a further layer of exclusivity, ensuring the car’s special status is never forgotten. The seating position is purposeful and engaging, perfectly suited to the V6’s dynamic character.
The theme continues across the doors, where matching brushed suede inserts sit flawlessly alongside silver embossed window switch panels. Lower door storage pockets remain unused, further highlighting the originality and light use of this example.
The deep royal blue carpeting throughout the cabin presents exceptionally well, showing no signs of wear. Above, the contrasting grey headlining remains taut and clean, complemented by matching sun visors and a centrally mounted interior light every detail exactly as Renault intended.
The dashboard remains completely original, finished in a striking two-tone combination of royal blue upper and grey lower sections. Free from fading or marking, it houses the passenger airbag neatly above the glovebox, with directional heater vents positioned ergonomically. Centrally mounted is the LCD information display, providing outside temperature, seatbelt alerts, and audio information, with twin adjustable air vents positioned directly beneath.
A factory-fitted Renault radio and cassette system sits proudly within a colour-coded silver surround, retaining full period charm, while the original Renault six-disc CD autochanger remains discreetly mounted beneath the driver’s seat. The rotary heating controls below present clean and fresh, reinforcing the cabin’s exceptional condition.
Ahead of the driver, the instrument binnacle features a clear tachometer and speedometer, the latter displaying just 31615 miles from new. Fuel and temperature gauges sit neatly alongside, with all warning lights functioning correctly and extinguishing exactly as they should.
The colour-coded centre console flows between the seats, housing an immaculate Alcantara-style gear lever and surround. To the rear of the console, a silver Renault Clio V6 plaque, stamped Build Number 0454, serves as a discreet but significant reminder of the car’s rarity.
Behind the seats, a factory cargo net provides additional storage, while lifting the front bonnet reveals surprisingly practical luggage space ample for overnight bags or light touring, adding an unexpected usability to this mid-engined performance icon.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Mounted transversely behind the seats is Renault’s formidable 3. 0-litre 24-valve naturally aspirated V6 (ES9J4), featuring multi-point fuel injection and delivering approximately 227 horsepower to the rear wheels. The result is a car capable of accelerating from 0–62 mph in around 6. 4 seconds, with a top speed in the region of 146 mph figures that remain impressive even by modern standards.
Power is channelled through a six-speed manual transmission, offering smooth, confident engagement and a perfectly judged spread of ratios. Throttle response is crisp, power delivery is linear across the rev range, and the V6 soundtrack builds with urgency as the engine comes on song.
The mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout transforms the driving experience, delivering balance, traction, and a sense of occasion few cars can match. Subtle in appearance yet ferocious in performance, the Clio V6 remains a true wolf in sheep’s clothing rare, original, and increasingly sought after by serious collectors.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting on genuine Silver Renault 16-spoke 5-stud alloy wheels in unmarked condition shod with as new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres on all four corners with ample tread, the Clio V6 retains its correct factory stance and road presence. The wheel and tyre combination is perfectly matched to the chassis geometry, providing excellent lateral grip, predictable turn-in, and reassuring stability under load, while maintaining originality and period correctness.
Braking performance is equally impressive and engineered to match the car’s performance credentials. Huge 330mm vented caliper discs brakes to the front and 300mm solid caliper discs brakes to the rear ensuring along with traction control and stability control coupled with the directionally split ABS system on-board ensures at all times your brought to a steady and controlled stop. The system delivers strong, confidence-inspiring braking with excellent modulation, even under demanding conditions, reinforcing the Clio V6’s reputation as a thoroughly engineered and capable performance machine
