Description

Pretty much the perfect Mark II. You could not build this car again for any less than twice the asking price. The model everyone wants with the upgrades considered essential to modern day driving. An original right hand drive totally rust free car hailing from the dry climate of South Africa, repatriated in 1999 and subject to an exhaustive 5 year bare shell restoration which included a nut and bolt mechanical refurbishment to include a full engine rebuild, all synchro gearbox service and a whole host of modern upgrades to aid reliability and driveability without compromising the essence of the Jaguar Mark II. Some of the many upgrades are all performed by marque specialists and documented on the substantial history file include:-

3. 8 litre full engine rebuild less than 4000 miles ago. Spin on oil filter
Hydraulic power steering rack (£6000)
123 electronic ignition with multiple tune settings
Revotec thermostatic cooling fan fitted to new high flow radiator
New brakes and brake pipes with servo assistance
Wiring loom and all electrical components
Burlen Fuel Systems carburretor rebuild
Heater refurbishment
Polybush suspension
ETC ETC ETC exhaustive nut and bolt restoration

The way the car has been refurbished is reflected in the way it drives. On the road it is a delight. Lots of power, smooth gearbox with overdrive, speed sensitive power steering, excellent brakes and superb road manners. This is a highly accomplished well constructed mechanical exercise that has been delivered to a point there isn’t anything to do to the car but enjoy it.

What about the driver experience and cabin ‘feel’? Inside there is a full new red leather trim to include door cards, carpets, dash top etc. The wooden dash and door cappings are all new and perfect. Period seat belts front and rear. The seats are very importantly period Reuter reclining variants an important factory option from new and essential to finding the right seating position. Everything works as it should and the only non factory items are a Moto-Lita steering wheel and radio/ CD. To further enhance the driver ‘feel’ the car has a full Dynamat sound deadening kit and this reduces the road and wind noise substantially and hints and the ‘no expense spared’ restoration.

The car has also had the underside professionally rustproofed and evidences not rust at all. Additionally the bumbers are rechromed as is the grill and all other chrome trim accept the door handles. The car sits on excellent chrome wire wheels shod with Vredestein Sprint tyres which is the perfect tyre for this car. The car even has a full tool kit! Also with the car are Coombs Spats as per the pictures. Personally I prefer these BUT the choice is yours

On the road the Mark II pulls strongly and the gear change is nice slick with the overdrive giving high speed cruising at lower revs. The brakes are excellent and the power steering gives high speed road feel and essentially low speed manoeuvring ability required these days. As a tall and ‘large’ man I like the reclining seats as they enable the perfect seating position. It’s a quite thrilling car to hustle along the highways and byways of the UK keeping up with modern traffic with perfect manners. Make no mistake this car would take you around Europe effortlessly. She is a fine fine automobile and 60 years old is hard to believe

The restoration was completed some 20years ago and the car has been cossetted through out that time. This is a very fine car. Warranty and part exchange are options too
