Description
• This super-rare RHD SC Cabriolet (#160315) was delivered in June of 1964. It was ordered new from the factory for delivery to official distributors A. F. N. in the United Kingdom and according to the Certificate of Authenticity it had the extremely rare option of “steering wheel on the right”.
• Porsche made very few right-hand drive cars at the factory and to find a factory-built SC Cabriolet is very rare – UK deliveries were in single digits and this is one of two cars delivered in ‘Light Ivory’.
• The ‘C’ model was the ultimate development of the 356 platform, launched in 1963 and featuring all round disc brakes and more powerful engines.
• The first owner must have been a very discerning enthusiast as they would have chosen this particular car instead of a cheaper Jaguar E-Type, no doubt valuing Porsche's engineering excellence, and even choosing the 356 over the recently launched 911.
• They would have joined an exclusive list of UK 356 owners including Jim Clark, Donald Campbell and Denis Jenkinson.
