89ci big-bore Evolution engine with extensive documented specialist work
Single ownership since October 1992 with V5C present
Excellent overall condition, stainless wheels, chrome accessories and leather panniers
Introduced during Harley-Davidson’s Evolution era, the 1991 Heritage Softail blends traditional big-twin styling with the practicality of more modern engineering. Conceived to deliver the clean lines of a rigid-frame motorcycle while concealing its rear suspension, the Softail platform preserves classic proportions without sacrificing ride comfort, and the Heritage model further enhanced this with touring-influenced detailing.
Presented in excellent condition, this example benefits from stainless steel wheels and spokes together with a selection of tasteful Harley-Davidson chrome accessories, including light visors, and is complemented by leather panniers that reinforce its traditional touring character. Fat Boy–style handlebars are fitted, contributing to a relaxed riding position and enhancing the model’s distinctive Softail stance.
While the recorded mileage is higher, the motorcycle is supported by evidence of significant specialist engine and drivetrain work and long-term ownership. In 1999 the machine was entrusted to Boz Engineering for extensive mechanical attention, details of which are supported by a comprehensive invoice on file. The work included enlargement to 89 cubic inches using a big-bore piston kit, ported cylinder heads, fitment of an HQ-0029 performance camshaft and roller rocker arms, together with a fully renewed valve train. The crankshaft was balanced and trued and assembled using Timken bearings, with additional attention given to the primary drive and gearbox during the same period.
Owned by the same enthusiast since October 1992 and accompanied by its V5C, the motorcycle was heard running at the time of cataloguing and sounded excellent. This Heritage Softail represents a well-developed Evolution-era Harley-Davidson that combines authentic period styling with a carefully considered, torque-focused engine specification, making it an appealing and highly usable modern classic.
