Description
1994 Toyota MR2 GT-S Turbo (SW20), Super Red
If you were into cars in the late 90s or early 2000s, you will already understand this one. Mid-engined, turbocharged, slightly edgy, the kind of car that always felt a bit more serious than it needed to be.
The SW20 MR2 Turbo has quietly become one of those cars people come back to, and when you find a straight, honest example, you tend not to hesitate too long.
This car began life in Japan and comes with its original export certificate, confirming de-registration in December 2004 prior to arriving in the UK in 2005.
It was prepared on arrival by Toyota MotorLine Ltd, Tunbridge Wells, with the original stamped service book still present. From day one, it has had a clear, traceable identity, which is not always the case with cars like this.
First UK service was carried out in August 2005 by a Toyota specialist, followed by a strong run of history through the late 2000s, including long term ownership from 2008 to 2017, and continued maintenance into 2020.
There is a proper history file with the car, invoices, MOTs, and supporting paperwork, showing consistent use rather than sporadic ownership. At some point in its life, the odometer readings were recorded incorrectly as miles rather than kilometres, a known quirk with some Japanese imports.
This was corrected in 2018, which creates an apparent drop in recorded mileage. In reality, the car has covered approximately 177, 000 kilometres, which equates to around 110, 000 miles, entirely consistent with its history. The car is powered by the 3S GTE turbocharged engine producing approximately 240bhp, paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Finished in Super Red with grey cloth interior, the car presents well overall. The paintwork is good and usable with some age related marks, while the interior is very well preserved. The car sits on its original wheels and remains largely original, with some light period style modifications to the engine and exhaust.
More recently, the car has been kept in dry, dehumidified storage with periodic running. It has a current MOT and is booked in for a light recommission service in March 2026 to ensure it is ready for use.
Supplied with original stamped service book, Japanese export certificate, history file, two keys plus alarm fob, and spare wheel. There are plenty of MR2 Turbos out there, most with gaps in history, heavy modifications, or an unclear past.
This is a straight, documented, early import car that has made it through largely intact.
If you are looking for a usable 90s turbo car with proper character, something
you can drive, improve, and enjoy, this makes a lot of sense.
