1969 Reliant Scimitar GTE
The GTE (Grand Touring Estate) body was designed by Tom Karen of Ogle Design. The first of a then new trend, the high performance estate car. Together with the split folding rear seat design makes this such a clever car. The chassis was designed by John Crossthwaite ex BRM and Lotus engineer. The engine is the Ford Essex 3. 0 V6 set well back in the chassis for excellent weight distribution. This engine has been balanced and mildly ported. It has a fast road camshaft and tubular exhaust headers. The rear axle has a limited slip differential and high ratio touring gear set. The suspension has uprated bushes and Koni dampers. This makes for a super touring classic car. Perfect for rallies like Classic Targa. With very good spares availability and an extensive history.
If you are looking for something different, you are unlikely to see another at your local cars and coffee meetups . This might just tick the box. Finished in its original colour of Silver Birch with black trim and factory option 15” alloy wheels. The car is in super condition and recently exhibited at the 2026 Sydney Harbour Concours.
