Much like the R107 that preceded it, the R129 SL enjoyed a long production run, always popular and stunningly well engineered this elegant roadster captured the hearts of the rich and famous as well as the enthusiast. Most two-seater convertibles on the market were rudimentary (and often rather fragile) sports cars, the Mercedes-Benz SL was beautifully engineered, solidly built and supremely capable. A modern classic in every sense of the term, the R129 makes a reliable daily driver as well as a luxurious feel good car for those lazy weekend jaunts.
Which brings us to this unique example of such a 129, with just 6230 miles on the clock from new, boasting a colour coded hard top. Finished in a stunning colourway of Diplomatic Black (040) over Beige Sport Check Cloth and Black soft top, perhaps the rarest of all colour schemes for this elegant roadster.
Impeccably presented throughout and complete with an advisory-free MOT valid until 2027, this rare and superb ultra low mileage SL awaits its next custodian. The V5 shows one owner. Purchased by a well known business man, from new in 1992, as a gift for his wife, it was handed down to her daughter when she passed away a few years ago.
As you can imagine it is in factory fresh condition. The original engine wax is present, factory warranty paint on all the nuts/ bolts. Paintwork is pristine and original. Interior is a true time warp experience from the very rare cloth seats to the period Becker stereo everything is as it was in the showroom all those years ago.
