Penned by Geoff Lawson and stylistically indebted to its XJ6 (X300) predecessor, the XJ8 (X308) was launched in 1997. Powered by a new generation of 3. 2 or 4. 0-litre AJ-V8 engines, the X308 would soon see an XJR derivative powered by a supercharged version of Jaguar’s 4. 0-litre AJ-V8 engine which, with an output of 370bhp, was capable of powering the luxury saloon to 60mph from a standstill in 5. 6 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
Supplied by Rybrook Jaguar Solihull on 27th July 1998 and finished in Sapphire blue metallic over Oatmeal leather, we understand the car received major works to the body in c. 2014 with a photograph on file and as such the body presents well for a near 30 year old steel-bodied XJR. This has no doubt been helped by the current owner of 11 years keeping it garaged when not in use. With a supercharged V8 producing 370bhp from the factory which sounded quiet at the time of consignment, it benefits from replacement chain and tensioners at c. 104, 000 miles in 2007. In January 2016 it was a feature and cover car in the V8 saloon section of Modern Classics magazine where it went head to head with the likes of the Maserati Quattroporte and BMW M5. Supplied with a history file showing service history from Jaguar alongside assorted invoices, the vendor himself is a qualified motor engineer and as such has conducted his own servicing during his ownership, the last being in December 2022 at 169, 230 miles. Offered with current MOT to September 2026 and Swansea V5C.
