Description
According to the data card, this Pagoda was produced on 26 November 1970 and promptly left Germany heading for the USA. First registered in 1971, the SL remained in sunny Florida for around 50 years until its return to Germany, which after the disassembly of the bodywork was evident. The restoration work was subsequently carried out in full by a German restoration specialist workshop. After the complete repaint, renewal of the interior, the soft top, and the tyres, the engine, transmission and differential were revised, etc. After restoration, the Pagoda was driven for a maximum of 500 km for setup drives only.

Thereafter, about three years ago we sold it to a collector of classic Ferraris, who to date has driven it only 2, 300 km. At his request it has been modified with a new, absolutely perfectly shifting GETRAG 6-speed gearbox*) and adjustable KONI shock absorbers, this Pagoda develops a driving dynamic never before achieved! Nothing now recalls the factory-specified, tired and especially loud 4-speed 280SL. Other special requests included Baroque wheels (see Photos 2/ 5/ 8), a removable wind deflector, automatic seat belts and the interior door panels have now been uprated to European standard (see Photos 3/ 4).

A perfect “Daily Driver,” which is not only extremely dynamic but also very relaxed to drive. The classic is in pristine, well-kept condition, no driving in the rain, no service backlog, only a single driver!
On request, the Baroque wheels can be swapped back to steel wheels/ hubcaps. Air conditioning can also be retrofitted by our Pagoda specialists at extra cost!
)* GETRAG 6-GANG-SCHALTGETRIEBE
In the 70s and 80s, AMG converted some Pagodas W113, 109 and 107 to manual with Getrag transmissions. Getrag was already in the 70s a transmission supplier for Porsche and BMW. This transmission gives the Pagoda a driving dynamics never seen before. Short shift travel, perfect gearing whether you drive it lazily or sportily. With noticeably lower revs, it is drivable and saves fuel while significantly reducing the cabin noise inside the Pagoda.
