I bought this car three years ago when I was 14 with the view to restore it in time for when I could I drive but this never happened due to the insurance being too expensive for me to insure. The Geep belonged to my mum back in 1986 who built it with the help of her brother who all ready had his own Geep at the time. My mum used the car everyday for the next couple of years until she sold it to a man who lived across the road from her. Under his ownership the car was modified a lot. It was converted to Ford Capri leaf springs instead of the Mk2 Escort ones which we're put on it originally. The interior was changed to later escort seats and the back ones removed, I still have the back seats which my mum had upholstered when she first had the car. When he was finished with it was parked in his dad's field and didn't move until I bought it 2012 and started stripping it down. The body was removed as was the engine and gear box until I was left with the chassis. I started to sand back and repaint the chassis the chassis has been completely reprinted in red oxide and I have started to paint it in black paint. The brake drums were put on a lathe and cleaned up but I haven't done anything else to it since I have all the parts to make this into a complete car again.
The parts I have are as follows:
All fibre glass body panels which are in fairly good condition for the age age of the vehicle however the floor on the main tub is rotten and will need replacing
1600 pinto engine which is not seized but I have not had running
Two four speed gear boxes and prop shaft
Mk2 Escort rear axle and Mk2 Escort leaf springs
5 x White eight spoke wheels with tyres
Mk1 Escort front suspension components including anti roll bar steering rack and the suspension struts completely with brake callipers and coil springs
Ford Escort front seats and Jago dash board with cut out for Mk2 Escort instrument binnacle which I also have
Chassis which my uncle welded up for me as it was slightly rotten when I got it
Full soft top roof with roll bar and supports for the canvas roof
The reason I am selling is because I would now like a series 2 Landrover.
The car was complete when in took it apart so any parts I have missed out I probably have. This car has a V5 and a registration so once completed will not have to complete a SVA test, will just require an MOT. This car is a project and will require a lot of work but it does come with all the parts to rebuild it. The chassis has no rot at all and will make a good project for someone who has the time.
I am asking £550 go for the car as it comes with all the parts
