1935 AUSTIN SEVEN NIPPY ARO 398.
First Reg’d: 19/ 6/ 1935.

Body no: 585.
Colour: Red (Rover Group Targa Red) with black wings, hood & upholstery.
Engine no. not shown, built with a replacement Nippy crankcase (these were supplied un-numbered).
Acquired March 1989.
VSCC Buff Form: Number 19314, issued 24/ 2/ 03.
Two old log books dating back to 1953.
The original engine was pressure fed, no 225890, replaced at the Longbridge works with a pressure fed recon engine no 212826 (those were the days!), both now gone.

Radiator core replaced 1989/ 90.
Nippy crankcase, splash fed.
Repro 9E head by Alan Raeburn.
Std block, ported and fitted with “A” series inlet valves & special guides, std exhausts, all carried out by Ian Bancroft.
Double valve springs, machined tappet guides,
re-profiled camshaft with flattened cam followers.
Uprated oil pump, bored out and eccentricity increased. Oiling system reversed with “mini” canister oil filter fitted.
Phoenix 1 ½” splash fed crankshaft.
Phoenix rods with shell bearings.
Reliant fully floating three ring solid skirt pistons, std bore.
Std Nippy manifolds, downdraught 30 VEI Zenith Carb, correct alloy sump.
Willy McKenzie repro exhaust system.
Lightened flywheel (about 15% lighter) &
Clutch replaced 1991, single springs.

C/ r “Super Accessories” gearbox rebuilt by Andy Bird with SA ratios. It is an actual SA gearbox stamped by them.

Rear Axle has a 5. 6 CW&P fitted and has a “proper” Nippy torque tube.
Std suspension, axles & springs which are bound with tape.
Std cable brakes set up with “sticky” linings.
19” wheels with Avon SM tyres all round.
New battery 2013.

Seats trimmed by Brian Purves with repro airbags fitted. Hood, hood bag & side screens made by Pickering’s of Bradford in “mohair” material. l

Correct lamps front & rear and dynamo rebuilt in the mid 80’s with split charge functional.
