For Sale is one of my two (?) Avantimes. Both cars I have are in excellent condition, however space is at a premium and I have decided to sell one, not to mention the expense of dealing with two cambelt changes has left me realising that my love for these magnificent cars is perhaps clouding my reality, and I really don't need two, no matter how much I tell myself that I do...
Anyway... this Avantime is a wonderful example of the type. It has low mileage of 75000 and is in exceptional order. I recently (less than 600 miles and 1 month ago) had the cam-belt and water pump replaced. At this time I also had a new radiator fitted as it had a slight leak. The exterior is also in excellent condition with only a few minor marks. The interior is in remarkable condition: the carpets are in excellent state and the leather seats show very little wear at all. All electronic items work, except the CD player which apparently has a standard feature of failing on just about every Avantime; my other one has the same problem too... The radio and steering column controls work as normal though. All other electronic items work as they should, as do the drawers and ashtray mechanisms. Another standard feature is the bubbling of the aluminium roof rails - this one has that too, but is minor and much less noticeable than on many others. All in all the car needs nothing (except a new CD player) and is a true delight to drive. 13 years on people still double take and look on in amazement, especially when Grand Air mode is employed... I'm not sure the Avantime is actually replaceable - when you have had one there is simply nothing else that comes remotely close to it. I certainly intend to keep my No. 2 until... well, I don't want to tempt fate... Suffice to say I have never loved another car as much as this. It represents one of the few times Renault or indeed anyone else has completely thrown caution to the wind and while a commercial disaster the world is a more interesting place for such bravery.
