Description
According to the BMIHT Heritage Certificate, this 'matching numbers' car - Chassis No: CR/ 5426-O and it was built on 20th November 1973 and was exported to BAOR (British Army Of the Rhine) in Germany where it spent 2 years with its British Army officer owner before he brought it back to the England in January 1975. Since then, the car has only had a further 7 owners in its 44 year life and only 2 owners in the last 13 years!
It has a very good history file with lots of invoices for works over the years and including an invoice from TR Bitz in Knutsford for £11, 212. 50 for an extensive restoration which was carried out in 1988 and there is a detailed photo album of this restoration. The mileage at the completion of the rebuild was around 72, 000 and from the 26 MOT certificates dating back to 1982, we can confirm that the current mileage recorded of 101, 100 is its genuine mileage from new!
The last owner purchased the car in February 2011 with 100, 300 miles on the speedo but he only covered circa 700 miles in the car before it was put into storage and not used at all until he sold it to the TR Trader in Cheshire in late 2016.
They have just finished re-commissioning the car and works included a repaint in Pimento Red with re-trimmed seat covers, new vinyl trim, a new vinyl Soft Top and new Black carpets. The Engine was upgraded to 150 BHP and mated to its original 4 Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive, Stainless Steel Exhaust System, refurbished original Steel Wheels, Bosch Fuel Pump conversion with wiring and relay upgrades, rebuilt throttle bodies and upgraded throttle linkages by Prestige Injection, an automatic Electric Cooling fan and the underside of the car was fully waxoyled to preserve the chassis and under body.
In addition, extensive works have been carried out to the brakes including new calipers / brake discs / wheel cylinders / master cylinder and to the rear a very high quality adjustable telescopic shock absorber upgrade has been fitted.
The tyres have full 8mm tread all round, a now ubiquitous auxiliary bonnet release system has been incorporated and a new heavy duty battery fitted along with a simple battery isolator for storage and security.
The car also comes with a hood stowage cover, a Hardura tool bag containing jack / wheel brace, an under dash Sat Nav power point, uprated vintage radio plus a small collection of very desirable manuals including a hand book reprint, original Stanpart TR Parts book and a rare original British Leyland brown vinyl Workshop Operations Manual.
This is a well sorted TR6 in overall an excellent condition and it drives beautifully.
The car will receive a new age related number plate from 1973 as it was mistakenly registered as a 1975 car when it returned from Germany and we are just in the process of obtaining this from the DVLA.
Upon sale it will receive a pre-sales checkover and a new MOT and will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty which can be extended and upgraded at additional cost if required.
