Lot 25

A 1957 Volkswagen split screen van, registration number 511 YUM, unique psychedelic paint scheme. This rare split screen van with its outrageous psychedelic paint scheme was the star vehicle in the cult American movie Getting Wasted. The film was released in 1980 directed by Paul Frizler and produced by David Buanno. The story line featured a group of young military academy cadets and their foray into the late 1960s drug scene and the antics that ensued. The van which is well known in VW circles has been owned as part of a private collection belonging to the proprietor of VW Evolution and subsequently maintained to a good standard. During his ownership of nine years he has changed the engine to a 1500cc example more for increased performance and has replaced the original wooden blank bumpers for safety. Now for sale due to work commitments, meaning the unique splitty is not getting the attention it deserves, the van will be offered for auction with some movie photographs. This unique VW will certainly get you noticed and offers an opportunity to purchase a part of VW history. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
