Triumph 2500 Mk2 Saloon – A Show Winning Car
The Michelotti styled 2500 Mk2 was introduced in October 1969 and was the last big Triumph saloon produced by the Coventry factory. The car had improved performance/ better handling than its Mk1 predecessor, was well received by the public and quickly became the pursuit car of choice for many UK police forces.
Owned for over 40 years by a professional engineer this remarkable Triumph is simply the best example we have ever seen. Restored in the mid-1990’s, the car has always been kept in a heated garage, never seen a drop of rain and covered just 14, 000 miles in 20 years.
Mechanically the car was upgraded with a 2500S (twin carburettor) engine, overdrive gearbox, power steering with all components being checked, refurbished or replaced as required. Structurally the Triumph is “out-of-the-box” with no corrosion and the Saffron paint is outstanding with a deep lustre that sets the car off perfectly…. it is like stepping back in time.
On the road the 2500 is a delight to drive - the 2500cc engine mated to the overdrive gearbox with power steering is the most desirable combination. The history folder has MOT’s going back to the first certificate issued in 1975 and a variety of invoices, literature etc.
The Triumph is well able to cope with modern road speeds and is the perfect choice for the classic enthusiast looking for a car to enjoy for holiday road trips or simply to use and enjoy at shows with friends and family.
