BMW/ EMW R35 CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE 1949. MOT AND TAX EXEMPT. 350cc . With very rare pillion seat. VERY INTERSTING NUMBER PLATE, I BELIEVE IT IS TRANSFERABLE IF THAT'S YOUR THING.  So let me explain the Bmw/ Emw bit - this motorcycle is registered on the v5 as an EMW - which means it was built in Eisenach { the original Bmw motorcycle build plant } but unfortunately on the other side of the wall thus controlled by Eastern block/ Russia as deemed fit after WW2 dividing up Germany.  Bayerische was on our side of the wall west Germany. After the war BMW carried on making the R35 motorcycle on both sides of the wall with all the same tooling/ jigs etc but after a while someone at BMW bayerische piped up and said hey ! these motorcycle aren't built here anymore so they shouldn't be called BMW's - HENCE the EMW 's birth - in fact some say the EMW is more the original BMW R35 as they had all the original tooling. So strictly speaking this was built in eastern Germany - the only difference being, it has fitted retrospectivley BMW badges - I have the original EMW badges that came with the bike. The chassis plate states BMW and also states built in BAYERISCHE { strange i know }.

So that all said - the bike is a BMW in all it's entirety, the only difference being the badges { this was all Bmw made them do, just change the badges !! } this bike is an all matching numbers bike - engine/ frame and gearbox - it's totally genuine and original and that's the beautiful thing - it's never been molested or changed in any way - the history is as follows : it was found in Latvia by the original owner/ importer and was said to have been bought from a local Doctor who used it on his visiting rounds, It was imported in 1999, and then stored in a garage until last year, the oils have been changed + a new battery, fitted with a new ignition switch { period } removed tank and had it cleaned of all gloop, replaced internals of carburettor, rebuilt fuel tap and hey presto !! it starts 1st kick, the bike turns heads like none other basically as it's so rare and you are usually surrounded by all British bikes.

So if you want something a little different this is it - i think it would be a shame to restore - but i think the rarity in it's original guise is a thing to behold - in fact a mate of mine { who is one of the country's best restorers } said to me he'd never seen anything quite like it and in his own words begged me NOT to restore - it's lovely as she is as he put it.

Funny to think that this bike was designed in the mid 30's and served all through WW2 as the staple German infantry man's dispatch bike, and then it was so robust they carried on making it into the 50's i believe. No small wonder because even today it is bullet proof German engineering.

The bike is totally reliable and starts easily, rides easily once you get used to the hand gear shifter, runs lovely, clutch and brakes all good, recent tyres and tubes, includes very rare pillion seat { AND NO I WON'T SELL THIS SEPERATELY TO ANYONE } come and see for yourself - any trial, call or msg me on 07973 11 12 13. or email - using the button below
