Austin 1300 GT – Fully Restored Example
The ADO16 was designed by Alec Issigonis who, following the success of the mini, was looking to design a larger, slightly more sophisticated car. The 1100/ 1300 was a great success and ‘badge engineering’ meant that there were offerings with Morris, Austin, Wolseley, Riley, Vanden Plas and MG on the radiator grill. The model that caught the imagination of all aspiring racers was the ‘1300GT’ with twin carbs and uprated engine it was in direct competition with the Escort/ Capri/ Avenger/ Viva GT’s and today is the rarest of all the 1300 models.
Our 1300GT was the subject of a bare shell, glass out, bead blasted restoration in 2011. The only area with any corrosion was the front suspension trumpets (replaced), and the Austin was then repainted in original Bronze Yellow with new vinyl roof. The interior was in excellent condition and only received a replacement roof lining. The history file is huge with original Bill of Sale, service invoices, all MOT’s giving a warranted mileage of 56, 000miles.
This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase an exception, fully restored example of this rare, highly sort after car and we urge early viewing in order to avoid disappointment.
