This rare 635 CSi Motorsport Edition coupe is possibly the finest classic BMW 635 CSi that we have offered. It is truly a time warp vehicle, with a low ownership, a BMW main dealer service history, and a fantastic list of factory options.
The BMW E24 is the first generation of BMW’s 6 Series grand tourer coupes and was produced from 1976 to 1988. The “Shark Nose” E24 was powered by a range of M30 straight-6 engines. Front suspension consisted of MacPherson struts and the rear suspension was independent semi-trailing arms. In 1982, the front suspension was upgraded to include twin-pivot lower control arms and the geometry of the rear suspension was revised. The steering used a recirculating ball system with power assistance. The power was 215 hp @ 5200 rpm, torque 310 Nm (229 lb.·ft) @ 3500 rpm and it reached a top speed of 138 mph.
The 635 CSi was supplied by Andrews Bros, Bradford (now JCT 600), and registered as a display car. They carried out the running-in service at 1, 157 miles on 19/ 04/ 1989. The car was purchased by Brian Ellison of Maidenhead in June 1990, and after 4 years of ownership, he shipped it to the sunny island of Madeira for his wife to use; it remained there until this year. Freshly serviced and checked by Madeira Motores BMW on 30/ 03/ 2017 at just 24, 303 miles, the vehicle also benefitted from a new exhaust, brakes, radiator, and steering arms, before its Portuguese MOT test. A subsequent MOT test has also been carried out in the U. K, with no advisories. Complete with its driver’s bookpack and spare keys, these BMW’s are very rarely offered in such original and complete condition, and we feel extremely privileged to own the car.
