The BMW M3 has always been something of a cult classic, so the re-introduction of an M3 Saloon in 2007 was widely welcomed by all the BMW enthusiasts that wanted M Power sports car performance, but also required the rear doors, extra seating space and increased luggage room. Our car in classic Silverstone II metallic, displays the aggressive lines of the M3 saloon quite brilliantly, and benefits from having the rare manual gearbox.
BMW produced these cars at their Regensburg plant near to Munich. Its bespoke V8 engine was essentially the S85 V10 engine with two cylinders removed. It featured an all alloy cylinder head and 4 valves per cylinder, two-piece aluminium-silicon alloy crankcases, cast aluminium pistons, lightweight valves and hollow camshafts. The 3, 999cc unit had a compression ratio of 12;0:1. The engine produced 420 bhp @8, 300 rpm and 295 lb/ ft. of torque @3, 900 rpm.
The M3 saloon appeals to drivers who value understatement, but demand high performance excitement. The sound of the V8 engine is certainly enough to stir any soul.
Originally supplied by Stratstone, BMW In March 2008, the all-important running-in service was completed at 1013 miles. The car has enjoyed a full BMW main dealer history, and will be supplied with a 12 -month comprehensive warranty.
