Lot 10
A 1971 Gilbern Invader Mk II restoration project, registration number XWF 305J, black. Sold on behalf of the Gilbern Owners Club. This rare automatic Mk II Gilbern Invader (one of only approximately 20 autos made out of a production run of 220) is in need of total restoration. It was first registered in May 1971 and has been off the road since 1983. A typical barn find brought by the GOC for spares, it is believed to have been advertised sometime during the 1980s as having had a rebuilt engine with a checked over gearbox. Obviously having stood since 1983 it will now need refurbishment. It is also believed that the engine does not turn over. The GOC have taken the decision that the car is too good to break. The car is registered with DVLA and a new V5C has been applied for and is hoped to have arrived in time for the auction. There are gauges in the footwell to replace the vandalised items and the boot is full of odds and ends including two original (very rare) rear lights. All of the glass except for the front and rear screens is present plus the door window frames but everything has been dismantled/ stripped. The seats are said to be in good condition except for being dirty and could easily be used as is. Also included in the sale are five extremely rare Gilbern wheels. There is a new front wing to replace the damaged/ missing item. Except for the front wing damage, the fibreglass bodywork is in good condition with no obvious gel coat cracking. The chassis will need extensive welding, this is simple straight box tubing and can be easily accessed by removing a section of the floor rather than a complete body off exercise. Spares and assistance are both available from the Gilbern Owners Club to facilitate a restoration. V5C applied for, no MOT, tax exempt
£900 - 1, 100 +12% Buyers premium (including 20% VAT)
