The E36 generation has a cult following and has very quickly become a classic. Good examples are becoming harder to secure and our cherished car has enjoyed regular servicing whilst in the previous keepers ownership.
The E36 M3 debuted in February 1992. It was the first M3 powered by a straight-six engine; the engine initially used was a 2, 990cc which produced 282 hp.
In September 1995, the M3 Evolution replaced the previous car, bringing with it a host of engine refinements including a 3. 2-litre S50B32 engine which was originally based on the 328i unit and BMW's evolutionary Double VANOS system that took care of both inlet and exhaust functions, at the same time, the Evolution received clear indicator lenses, new wheels and a 6-speed manual gearbox
This straight six could generate 321bhp, making it capable of that Holy Grail of normally aspirated engines - a power figure in excess of 100bhp per litre capacity.
The convertible and four door salon were launched initially, the more desirable two-door coupe did not arrive until May 1996.
The E36 chassis M3 was touted as one of the best handling cars of the 1990s in independent tests by Car & Driver. Known for its benign handling and balance, the car was popular amongst circuit racers and track enthusiasts.
The E36 was also one of the first cars BMW designed mainly with computer aid with the use of detailed Finite Element Analysis and other software.
Our car was originally supplied by Mann Autohaus on the Isle of Man in August 1997 and will be supplied with a comprehensive warranty and a new MOT certificate.
