MGA 1600 Mk1 Coupe – Rare Opportunity
The MGA was announced on 26 September 1955 and officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show with the coupe following a year later in September 1956. Styled by Syd Enever the design was based on the lessons learnt from the record breaking efforts of the factory works team and the final result is arguably one of the prettiest cars every produced by the MG
Our extremely rare RHD home market car was manufactured in January 1961 and is finished in the original combination of dove grey with red interior. The car has had lots of mechanical work in recent years including:
· Stage 2 head with unleaded conversion (Ivor Searle)
· Gearbox professionally refurbished & new clutch
· Oil Cooler and re-cored radiator
· New starter motor & overhauled carbs
· Front shock absorbers and Pirelli Cinturato tyres (x5)
· High ratio 3. 9 rear axle with new bearings/ brakes
· Stainless Steel Exhaust
The car was restored around twenty years ago and the paint is still excellent with just the odd mark from light use over recent years. The red interior is stunning with excellent dashboard, seats and carpets. There is a large history file with old MOT’s, invoices and details of previous owners etc. and on the road the car is a real pleasure to drive
Under 10, 000 MGA Coupes were built with the vast majority being exported. The combination of stunning appearance with higher levels of comfort to the standard roadster make this an ideal option for those looking for a stylish classic sports car.
