Beschreibung
The Sunbeam 20. 9 hp was introduced for 1927 season, it featured a 2916cc overhead valve six cylinder engine with a rating of 20. 9 hp and a four speed gearbox. It used semi-elliptic front suspension and cantilever rear suspension. The four wheel brakes were operated by cable at the front and rod at the rear. A Claudel Hobson carburettor was fitted. The Sunbeam 20. 9hp was typical of the high quality sporting chassis produced at the zenith of the firms pre-eminence in its field. The engine was smooth and powerful with a four bearing crankshaft. This very early model has cantilever rear springs giving a lovely smooth ride and good handling.
Body styles available were: 2-seater, tourer, fixed-head coupe, folding-head coupe, coachbuilt saloon, Weymann saloon and Rally Weymann saloon. This one being the coachbuilt saloon finished in claret with black mudguards. They were an expensive car when new and retailed at £895.
This car is a genuine time warp and runs lovely on the road with lively performance combined with a decent four wheel braking system. The interior is virtually as it left the factory. Recent new tyres. Clearly the first owner loved the car as he owned it from 1926 to 1964. I am only the 5th owner and we only have to part with her as we are reducing our collection due to ageing years. The car comes with quite a heavy history file, including many letters, old MOT's, Buff log book and current V5C. A workshop manual is included in the sale.
