Borgward was a brand name under which cars and trucks were produced between 1939 and 1963 in and around Bremen. In 1961, Borgward, Bremen's largest employer, came into financial difficulties, leading to the downfall of the company and the Borgward brand after controversial crisis management. Since 2005, Christian Borgward, the grandson of Carl F. W. Borgward, has taken steps to revive the car brand.
