The BMW R50 with VIN 555260 was manufactured on February 07th, 1956 and delivered on May 18th, 1956 to the British importer A. F. N. in Isleworth / Middlesex.
Date of first registration in the UK from new: 13th March 1957
According to the original Buff Logbook the bike remained in London / High Wycombe / Herts / and in Ruislip Middlesex area's in the 50's and 60's for most of its life.
Previously owned by a fellow BMW club member.
The bike is a UK bike, and was originally supplied by the BMW main agent, AFN of London, in May of 1956, and still carries its original registration number, TXN 262.
There is a significant history file with the bike, containing many invoices, interesting literature, confirmation letters from BMW, and the original buff log book. Matching engine and frame numbers.
It appears that at some point the bike went abroad, being repatriated in 1987. A thorough restoration was commenced in 2004 / 2005, and was completed in 2015.
This included an engine re fresh, including re bore, wheels rebuilt, rewired, repainted, new tyres, some rechroming, powder coating, new Denfield seat, stainless exhaust, etc, etc. It has centre and side stands.
The bike is very smart and clean and is ready to ride for the summer, it starts, runs, and rides without any known fault. Very easy starter, usually first or second gentle prod from cold. Obviously MOT and road tax exempt.
