Description

1933 Rolls Royce Phantom II Continental by Park Ward.

Chassis number: 92MY

Registration number: AGW36

Coachwork: Park Ward. (Believed to be a one off design.)

Wow..... Over £300, 000 has been spent upon this Rolls Royce Phantom 2 with noted Marque Specialists Alpine Eagle & Hofmann's of Henley amongst others. As a result, this is one of the best Phantom II Continentals we have driven. Hofmann's of Henley were called upon to fit a very long rear axle ratio of 3:1 which is even longer then the standard continental axle from the factory. As a result at 60MPH, the engine is whisper quiet, unstressed & feels like it is just ticking over. It runs beautifully in modern traffic keeping up effotlessly with a stong powerful engine.

The car is finished in immaculate duck egg blue paintwork to the exterior. Inside is deep green leather & a similar coloured Japanned leather is used for the roof covering. In 2000, the car won first in class at the R. R. E. C Annual Rally, and in 2001, the car won a further award, in both cases at the Towcester venue. Further work, including an engine overhaul, was carried out in addition to this, making this car a truly lovely specimen. Approximately £20, 000 has been more spent by a previous owner during his ten-year custodianship.

A full set of small & large tools comes with the car, the former being located in a fold down tray in the boot lid. The large tools are in a tool roll under the passengers seat. The cars original Rolls -Royce instruction manual comes with the car as does a town cap coddled in a green leather bag. Twin Walnut picnic tables are fitted to the rear. Adjustable Andrei shock absorbers are fitted back & front with the adjustment knobs located on the dash. The car has an telelever fuel guage fitted to the dash which unusually is in perfect working order.

A Massive file of bills attesting to the work done on the car comes with it. The car features prominently in Andrei Blaizes seminal tome on the Phantom 2 Continentals with a delightful double page period picture of the car in the South of France.

Ordered new by Gustaaf Miesegaes he registered the car at Dex House - the official address of his brother Robert’s business of Dex Garages. Gustaaf Miesegaes & his car were mentioned in the June 3rd, 1933 issue of Country Life in the article “Coachwork Competitions”. In May 1936 Gustaaf Miesegaes registered 92MY at 23 George Street in Hanover Square & just 2 months later the car was sold to Frederick Stafford-Lewis a partner in Sidney J. Lovell & Co. Stockbrokers.

In stock with us now, the car is absolutely ready for the coming season & will be a welcome sight at Goodwood, Ascot & Henley etc. It will also adorn our stand at Technoclassica in Essen.
