TR6 CP/ 150bhp - Body Off Restoration – Matching Nos
The TR6 was introduced in January 1969 using similar chassis and running gear components to those used in the TR5/ TR250 but with a restyled body by Karmann. While smoothing the lines of the car, wider wheels were also fitted making the car look low, lean and very fast drawing widespread positive comments from the motoring press at the time
Our matching numbers TR6 was originally supplied to Julians Ltd, Reading on 8th May 1972 and has had just six keepers - the last owner bought this car in 1984, sold it to a friend and then bought it back in 1989.
The TR had a body off restoration in 2015. The chassis only required the rear outriggers replacing and the body needed two new front wings. The main belly plate and the front wing strut support bar were replaced and the differential support mounts were replaced/ strengthened. All other components was overhauled or replaced including the gearbox/ overdrive unit, and there is a picture file providing evidence of all the work completed.
There is a huge amount of paperwork with the car including invoices from the restoration, MOTs going back to the first required in 1975, invoices back to 1973 driver’s handbook etc.
It is simply the best TR6 we have had through Milestones with strong mechanicals, upgraded interior and body colour underneath – the pictures speak for themselves
Nearly 94, 000 TR6’s were produced but only 8, 370 were home market cars, making our car a rare survivor. The price of TR6’s has risen steadily over the past 3 years and this superb example will provide an extremely entertaining drive and excellent investment to the lucky new owner
